Dear John,
Its' been one year since I came to you on September 25, 2007 to quit smoking through hypnosis. I was a heavy smoker (3 packs a day) all of my adult life. Physically I was in terrible health, grossly overweight at 335 pounds, and I couldn't walk around large stores because of a low oxygen level. I was using oxygen at home when sitting around and also while sleeping.
You hypnotized me that day and I haven't had a cigarette since. In a one year period, I have lost 105 pounds and ride my exercise bike two to three hours a day. This has helped my lungs recuperate to the degree that my pulmonary doctor has taken me off of oxygen and I can walk around quite well now.
I sincerely want to thank you for adding years to my life and probably saving my life from a future heart attack. Through your knowledge and ability to apply hypnosis to my condition, I can now live a fairly normal life.
Thank you so much. Yours truly,
Darryl R. Frey
Dear John,
On behalf of the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine (UPSOM) and the Humanistic Medicine (HuMed) division of the American Medical Student Association (AMSA), Pittsburgh Chapter, we extend our sincere appreciation for your contribution to the enhancement of our students medical education. Each year we aim to provide exposure to a wide range of medical modalities that will positively influence the way our students will practice medicine.
We appreciate the knowledge and insight about hypnosis as a therapeutic tool that you shared with our students. The Hypnosis 101 lecture was extremely successful and our students found it both captivating and informative. They will look forward to a return visit to explore hypnosis.
The UPSOM truly thank you for donating your time to the enlightenment of our students and your contribution to AMSA's programming designed to foster medical student wellness. Again, it was a pleasure to have you lecture, and we invite you to return in the near future.
Sincerely,
Chentis Pettigrew, Jr. Ed.D. Assistant Dean for Student Affairs and Director of Diversity Programs University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine

Dear John
I am writing to thank you for the success that I have had with your program. I have tried to stop smoking using other methods. I've never had anything that works as well as this. The cravings are almost all gone and the ones that I do have are small. I have told all my friends and family of my success and I am hoping the call. Thank you for the life changing event

I sought the services of John Weir as I began my efforts to lose a significant amount of weight I had gained after an injury. Although I had the information I needed to lose weight, there was a component of my weight loss efforts that was missing. I gained that component through hypnosis. John completed a thorough evaluation of my habits, environment and motivation. Through hypnosis, we were able to capitalize on my strengths, and replace my sabotaging practices with positive actions. John and I tackled my problem with a multi-pronged approach. I appreciated the follow up he conducted, to insure that I was having success. The experience was positive, motivating and, successful! Seemingly without "effort" I was able to implement the healthy lifestyle that I needed to lose weight. I am minus 31.8 pounds..and still counting!
Thanks John!

My name is Matt Bouton. I am 24 years old, and I have lived in Munhall, PA all my life. At 18, I started smoking cigarettes, Kamel Reds to be exact. After switching brands several times I settled on Winstons. I was 23 years old and a pack-or-more per day smoker. Over the course of those five years, I tried seriously to quit smoking twice and both resulted in failure after a matter of days. About a month ago, I decided to try something more drastic than cold turkey or patches, or gum.
I called John Weir, who I met through a mutual friend. I knew that he was a hypnotherapist; and, that he had helped our mutual friend, to quit smoking sometime earlier. I had also written an article, based on observation of this friend being placed into trance. I was familiar with the techniques he used, though I have to admit I maintained a level of skepticism that pretty much anybody would have in relation to the stereotypes attached to this method.
I went to him for our first session two weeks and two days ago, on July 16th, 2003. For an hour and a half, I went into two trances, and since that day I haven't smoked a single cigarette. I saw him again today for 40 minutes. Before each session, we discussed triggers for urges, when they were the strongest, and what new behavior patterns would result from the hypnotic suggestions he used.
I can only say that I have no cravings, no problems resisting urges, nor do I have problems denying friends who intentionally or unintentionally offer me a cigarette. This is because the cravings have ceased, the urges don't happen, and the offers fall on deaf ears; I see cigarette packs as I did when I was 16-- as boxes of death. I can't imagine putting one to my mouth without a very visceral, unhealthy feeling. I won't ever smoke again, and I owe it to John Weir and the hypnotherapy he administered to me.

My experience with John Weir was fantastic; he gave me the knowledge and extra motivation I needed in order to succeed. I am twenty years old and just passed my drivers test. Before I met with John I drove wonderfully, only to seemingly forget everything I knew as soon as the driving instructor so much as looked at me! I would start to get nervous as I arrived at the testing center, and once the instructor came into view, his clipboard and pen in hand, panic and anxiety would set in and I would just freeze up. Granted, the instructors are nice people just doing their job, but my first experience was terrible. The first time I took my driving test I was a little bit nervous, but the instructor was uncouth and insensitive, making my whole experience awful. My mind seemed to fixate on that one experience and escalate from there. Every time I went back to take the test my anxiety got worse and I could never think clearly enough to be able to pass. It was very discouraging for the reason that i would fail my driving test, but drive home flawlessly.
I was incredibly disappointed in myself because I was excelling in other aspects of my life. I have a wonderful job at Washington Mutual, a gorgeous baby girl, and I was in the process of transferring from the Community College to Seton Hill University, which is about a 45 minute commute. At the point, I knew I needed to take action and approach my problem in a different manner. Just as I was trying to figure out the best way to tackle my problem, I saw www.pittsburghhypnosis.com on the bumper of a car. Intrigued, I wrote down the website and looked it up on the Internet. I was a bit skeptical at first, but the more I read about hypnosis, the more convinced I became that this was the tool I needed to help me achieve my goal. The explanations provided were well written and relevant to any and all questions I could think of.
I called to make an appointment with John, and was fortunate enough that he was able to work with my hectic schedule of work and school. At my appointment, John proceeded to thoroughly answer any questions I had. The analogies he referenced were helpful in understanding the process of hypnosis. The hypnosis itself was an extremely peaceful experience. It is comparable to mediation, but with someone other than yourself coaxing you into a cocoon of relaxation and tranquility.
With John's suggestions allowing me to relax and focus, I was more confident than ever that I would pass my driver's test. The day of the test arrived and, as I waited my turn in the lobby of the testing center, the familiar feelings of anxiety and panic started to trickle over me. However, this time I subdued them with a discreet relaxation technique John had suggested. As soon as I performed this technique, I was once again calm, relaxed, and confident. I eased through my test, staying calm throughout the whole thing, and passed with no trouble. I was absolutely ecstatic!
An added bonus to this experience was John's offer to work with me regarding test-taking anxiety. Normally I am a last minute studier, almost a procrastinator, so I thought I would give it a try. After that session, mid terms were quickly approaching and instead of setting aside a couple of hours the night before the test, I started rewriting my notes and making flashcards a couple of weeks before the tests! I am more motivated to study and have been able to unlock what I have subconsciously stored in my mind. This has helped tremendously in that I am more relaxed in the days preceding a test, as well as during any given test.
I am confident that John's hypnotic suggestions allowed me to completely relax so that I would be calm enough to pass my driver's test. Without John's help I honestly do not think I would have passed my driving test. I would highly recommend hypnosis to anyone, not as a last resort, as in my case, but as a primary solution to any problem or situation.
Sincerely

Thank you for helping me achieve my goal of becoming a non-smoker. It has been more than three weeks since I smoked, and I feel better than I have in years. I had tried quitting by going cold-turkey, cutting back slowly and using "Smoke Away" herbal supplements. All of these methods failed. Becoming a non-smoker with your program was by far the easiest change I have made in my habits and lifestyle. Quitting smoking has made it possible for me to set new goals like starting a regular exercise program. I never would have seriously undertaken an exercise program while I was still a smoker. Everything just seemed so difficult, I was always fatigued and winded. Now I have so much more energy, so much more is possible for me as a non-smoker. I highly recommend your program to anyone considering quitting smoking.
Thanks,
Jerome Tinney
A few months ago, I stopped at a health fair in our local mall. John Weir had a booth for stopping smoking thru hypnosis. I have tried a number of methods to quit smoking; the patch, the gum, and medication. I looked at the hypnosis as going into the realm of "weird stuff" - but I filed his business card in my purse.
Three weeks ago, my son handed me a glass of water around 4 in the morning. He explained that my choking woke him. I was coughing all night and I didn't know it, and apparently I was doing this on a nightly basis. Okay, so this looked like I needed to start trying the stranger stuff. I pulled the business card out of my purse and called the Hypnosis Center. I set an appointment for a few days later. I didn't have to do anything previous to quitting other than write a list of ten reasons why I'd like to quit (this is a no-brainer).
After some discussion of how it works and why hypnosis isn't the weird thing that I saw in the movies growing up, I agreed to be hypnotized & a couple hours later, I left the office a non-smoker. I was able to drive home without a cigarette, I was able to go to sleep without my before bedtime cigarette, able to wake up in the morning without my morning cigarette. From time to time, I would remember that during certain times of the day - this would be when I'd have a cigarette; but not anymore. I don't have the battle of willpower vs nicotine cravings. Instead of the inner struggle with wanting a cigarette, I'm thinking of all the stuff that I can do now that I'm a non-smoker. I've started running with my dog again (okay so it's only a half block - but next week maybe I can do the whole block).
My only regret is that I didn't set the appointment immediately at the health fair - I could be celebrating four months of being a non-smoker instead of one week.

After my 16 year old brother died suddenly this past fall I was understandably having trouble sleeping. On nights when I could actually go to sleep my nightmares were so vivid that I often woke up in the middle of the night and could not go back to sleep. Desperate to sleep for one complete night and feel really rested, I talked to John about the problems I was having. He told me about a new type of hypnosis cd he was working on and offered to make me one. I have to admit I was skeptical, I had never been hypnotized before and didn't think anything short of sleeping pills was going to help me. The first night I listened to John's Dream CD i never made it past the first ten minutes. That night I had my first full night of restful sleep in about two months. After that I listened to the cd every night for about 2 weeks and felt fresh and awake every morning. Since then I have used John's technique to go to sleep almost every night, but have passed the cd around to other members of my family who I thought might use it. They all claim to have better sleep lives and more daily energy and I am 100 % sure that it is because of John and his Dream Cd. If you were thinking of purchasing one of John's cd I would strongly recommend it, you have no idea how much it can change your life for the better!

Friends and Colleagues:,
I am writing this statement in support of John Weir, a bright, competent, and energetic professional hypnotist. Although I came to know John in an academic setting, his knowledge and skills as a hypnotist quickly became apparent to me. His solid foundation in psychological principles and theory is evident in his approach to the elimination of phobias, anxiety, and harmful habits.
It is without hesitation that I would recommend John to anyone seeking relief from unwanted or negative behaviors and thoughts. His commitment to hypnotherapy, and his clients, is exceptional

Dear Mr. Weir,
Thank you for helping us in our Great American Smoke-out programming on November 18, 2004. We had approximately 60 students attend your "Stop Smoking" workshop. As I recall, several accepted your invitation to throw away their packs of cigarettes that very afternoon! Your performance was professional, but also reached students on a personal level. Again, thank you for your services. If we have a similar program in the future, we will be sure to call you.
Sincerely,

Community College of Allegheny County- South Campus Yours truly,
Hypnosis works. When people first hear the word hypnosis, they become skeptical because they are unfamiliar with hypnosis. Test anxiety has been a part of life since I could remember. I would not sleep the night before the test, get stomach problems and shake during the exam. I knew the Bar exam was one of the most difficult exams, and I did not want test anxiety to stop me from my goals. I had taken the exam once, and I studied but not the way I should have. I was very nervous during the exam and had the usual test anxiety symptoms. The next time I was determined to pass the exam. I decided to take the Pennsylvania and New Jersey bar exams at the same time. I took BarBri and PMBR prep courses. I studied very hard for two months, and my cousin suggest that hypnosis could help my test anxiety. I am a natural skeptic, but I had to try hypnosis to help my problem. I just went for it, and I took the process very seriously. It was the night before the exam, and I decided this was the way to go. Everyone thinks they can't be hypnotized. I was hypnotized very quickly, and it was a relaxing and overall enjoyable experience. I thought ten minutes had passed, and Mr. Weir informed the session lasted an hour. After being hypnotized, I was able to sleep for each of the three nights of the exam. I had no stomach problems in the morning or during the exam. I was relaxed and energized during each 3 days of the exam. The exam was six hours each day, and I had to drive to New Jersey for the last day. It took eight hours to get there, and I had only 3 hours of sleep. I was still relaxed and fresh for the whole six hours of the last day. I recommend hypnosis for all students who suffer from test anxiety. I especially recommend they go to John Weir for their sessions. I would like to thank Mr. Weir again for all his help.

I used to have major anxiety before tests, especially standardized tests. My nervousness often led to scores which did not reflect my true potential. After much frustration with tests scores below my real capabilities, I went to John Weir for hypnosis. I was preparing to take the graduate record exam (GRE) exam. I wanted (and needed) to control and eliminate my test anxiety, to improve my test taking abilities, and to increase my test scores. It is absolutely astounding how hypnosis worked for me! On the day of the GRE, I woke up calm, relaxed and ready to take my exam. When I sat down to take the standardized test, I recalled the peaceful feelings instilled in me by hypnosis. Unlike any other exam, I proceeded quickly and easily through each and every question. Through the whole exam, I was amazingly calm, collected, and relaxed. I thought about each question clearly and correctly. I believed I could answer every question and I did! Thanks to John Weir and my hypnosis sessions, my GRE scores were so high that I was given a full tuition scholarship to graduate school - over $45,000!

Dear John,
I wanted to tell you how well the hypnosis sessions with you have helped. The time you invested with me has definitely paid off. As you know, there were many years where I would try to function on less than a full night's rest, but that has since changed. I am more relaxed and less stressed than I have ever been. Since I have bee on the road for more than two weeks now, I have taken your tapes with me on every trip. By listening to them during turbulence and every night, I feel well rested, energized and moreover, am focused on healthier food choices.
After our last session I walked from your house to mine and have been walking for enjoyment ever since. Recently, in Baltimore, I walked throughout the Inner Harbor area and when I looked at my watch 3 and 1/2 hours had gone by. Luckily I was shopping and did not end up in new Jersey somewhere. (ha ha)
Seriously, I wanted to thank you for your assistance. you are truly a delightful person and a gifted professional who expresses enthusiasm and encouragement every step of the way. When people at work asked me what has changed recently, I invite them to call you so they can experience it first hand.
Thank You,
Laurie DeMillion-Genes
Dear John, I have been smoke free since our session. I don't have any desire or urges to smoke. To tell you the truth, I can't stand the smell of smoke. I am grateful that I have been successful this far. I anticipate being able to continue the rest of my life as a non-smoker, thanks to your services
Thank you

John, I just wanted to thank you for helping me make a great change in my life. I attended the November 12th Smoking Cessation Group Hypnosis session. I am a non-smoker and have not had a cigarette in 3 weeks. I have quit on several occasions before, but during those times I would have cravings and would want to smoke. After attending the Smoking Cessation Group session I have not even entertained the thought of a craving or wanted to smoke. I didn't have the dramatic withdrawal symptoms that I went thru before. It is just like any other day, but I am not polluting my lungs and spending the money. I just wanted to thank you and wish you and your family a healthy and happy holiday season.
Thanks, Mike Earl
